two funny slash cute pix

the first is of my catten's behind. he took off before i could photograph him properly and all i was left with was his little butt. cute, nonetheless. on second thought, perhaps weird [yeah, yeah, i know].

the second is a pic of an african pygmy hedgehog or atelerix albiventris, sold as pets. i seriously want one! too damned cute. apparently they make good little pets though they are nocturnal.

c'mon, doesn't it make you want one, too?

Oh, Oh, Oh, I want one...
I love hedgehogs...
I know how to say hedgehog in 5 languages - what a useless bit of esoterica that is: English, obviously, Hebrew - kipod, French - harrison (or herrison, but you get the idea), Russian - yozhik, German - igel (pronounced eagle). Holding a hedgehog was actually one of my lifetime goals... when I actually held a teeny tiny baby one that had climbed into the communal dog dish and was chomping away surround by half a dozen mutts of varying sizes (from teacup to cow). Did you know that when they feel moderately threatened, but not scared enough to roll into a ball they make huff huff huff sounds like a miniature steam engine? and they jump straight up and down to try and spike anything wanting a nibble. I love hedgehogs... Get one and then I can enjoy it vicariously!!!

SOMEHOW it doesn't surprise me that u know how to say it 5 languages, aja!! i think u should expand ur vocab a bit and learn it in a few more ;p how about japanese or pashto? LOL.

i fell in love with it when i saw that particular picture. i am trying to convince myself now that both catten and myself somehow NEED one. i think i researched it though and they are a bit um... illegal in several of our provinces. i know i saw them somewhere just can't remember where.

if i EVER DO get one of those little guys, u will for sure vicariuosly enjoy him/her.

looks like i can use him to scrub pots also if things don't work out ;0 ha ha

check out the 2nd link, there is a huge gallery of pix of them in diff venues. i was a bit grossed out by the foaming thing. it's in the links; i think i'll let you discover this fact on your own. lol.

hehe, just thought of something....

i think i'd call him, are u ready ...

"herison ford" ;pp

i also find it funny that rehov sumsum had tzippi ha kipod as a character. at least, if memory serves me right, that's what her name was. ain't that a kick in the pants.

Here, in Switzerland, I have not the slightest idea if they can be bought...
Unfortunately, I already have two cats at home and could not really add a new critter in the apartment! There are so many cute animals I'd love to have that they could never possibly live/fit in such a small space ;-P!...

i totally understand what ur saying, rosa. i would be a bit hesitant about getting this little guy with my cat around. a little hedgehog could possibly end up as either a cat toy or a snack if i ever took my eyes of my cat.
