as the sun sets

very soon jews worldwide will be in their synagogues for the evening service of yom kippur to hear the most solemn prayer of the holiday called the KOL NIDREI — the aramaic recitation of the anulment of vows we have made to G-d from one yom kippur to the next.

as the kol nidrei is repeated 3 times by the cantor in the very late afternoon just before the sun finally sets, we listen in silence and reflect upon the past year. over the next 25 hours, we fast. we pray. we hope for better for the new year.

wishing you a g'mar chatimah tovah

& an easy fast.
